As far as i can remember, i've always been fascinated by the Blues. This music the devil gave us, according to the legend. If you ask me, it's the most precious bit of the overwhelmingly rich afro-american culture. Popular and yet secret, trivial and yet political, this music draws its energy in the darkest places, brocken heart, pain and despair. Haunted with the ghosts of african slaves, and ostracized and oppressed workers, men and women suffering in the plantations in the south, or in the factories in the north. The Blues is tainted with violence, heated by sexuality and yet has this rebel spirit and unique energy.
"But why a skeleton then?" you could ask. Well because what else has that scary grin? What can better express "laughing at life and death" than a skeleton? What is spookier than a skeleton? Because, yes, as much as i love the Blues, i still find it scary, its rhythm grabbing you by the hips, its melody rolling and tumbling like a drunk snake and its lyrics talking about pain, betrayed love and loneliness. And yet you can't help but stomp, and swing them hips, and shout! Blues always felt like fire to me, warm and dangerous, and if my love for it shines through all of the designs of the Odd Bird Blues collection, this T-Shirt is here to say it loud: I Love Blues And I'm Proud.
